PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN

You can plan your trip with the Los Angeles Metro Authority. Here you can enter your start and end points, along with the date and time of your trip.

Once you arrive in Santa Clarita, you'll be utilizing the services of City of Santa Clarita Transit. Service to Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) using public transportation services is limited. Check with your hotel for the availability of a hotel shuttle or trolley. Taxi services are available by calling: Yellow Cab of Santa Clarita (661-260-2227) or Hybrid taxi (661-755-7865). Taxi service from SFMM is estimated at $5-6 to a Valencia hotel, $15 to a Castaic hotel.

Airport Transportation

Santa Clarita Valley is located approximately 35 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The two airports used most often by Santa Clarita residents are Burbank/Bob Hope Airport (BUR) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

To avoid traffic congestion, plan to stay off the Los Angeles freeways as follows: Southbound, 6:00 – 9:00 am; Northbound, 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Specific times for each airport are listed below.

Burbank Airport
This is the closest airport to Santa Clarita. It’s about 23 miles and 30 minutes away. Burbank Airport is small and well-contained, and you will need to allow less time at this airport than at LAX. (In good circumstances, an hour prior to departure time should be ample to check your luggage and go through security.) Check your airline for their suggested arrival times.

Generally the heaviest traffic between Burbank Aiport and Santa Clarita is during the following hours:
  • From SCV south to Burbank Airport: 7:00 - 8:00 am; 4:00 - 6:00 pm
  • From Burbank Airport north to SCV: 4:00 - 6:00 pm

MetroLink
The Green Line (Antelope Valley Line) runs from Burbank Airport to Santa Clarita.

The Santa Clarita MetroLink stations include: Via Princessa (Canyon Country), Santa Clarita (also Canyon Country), and Newhall. Santa Clarita Transit will then pick you up from the MetroLink stations at designated times in Santa Clarita and deliver you to a local bus stop. (Call ahead) taxi service is also available in Santa Clarita. Total transportation cost: $9.75-16.25

The MetroLink is designed as a commuter service and, therefore, cannot accommodate luggage.

Private Limousine or Towncar:
$105 - 145 plus gratuity

Airport Shuttle/Shared Van:
$35 and $10 for each additional person for a shared van.

Taxi:
$50-60

Rental Car:
Renting a car at the airport is one of the most direct ways to get from Burbank to Santa Clarita. Major car rental companies offer one-way rentals. An economy car may cost less to rent than a shuttle service. Bonus: use it for 24 hours for the same price. (One-way rentals, without discounts, ranged from $24-82 from Burbank to Santa Clarita; $29-70 from Santa Clarita to Burbank.)

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
LAX is about 43 miles and 46 minutes from Santa Clarita. It is large and often congested. Arrive two hours prior to departure time, as security lines can be extensive. Check your airline for their suggested departure times.

Generally, the heaviest traffic between Santa Clarita and LAX is during the following hours:
  • From SCV south to LAX: 6:00 - 9:00 am; 4:00 - 7:00 pm
  • From LAX north to SCV: 4:00 - 7:00 pm

Most Economical ride:
Van Nuys Fly Away: From LAX to Van Nuys
Bus Route 798/793 will then transport you to Santa Clarita, but service times are limited. Total transportation cost: $7.50

To continue to Six Flags Magic Mountain, transfer to Route 3/7.

MetroLink
From LAX, you’ll hop on the FlyAway Service to Union Station, then take the Antelope Valley Line to Santa Clarita.

The Santa Clarita MetroLink stations include: Via Princessa (Canyon Country), Santa Clarita (also Canyon Country), and Newhall. Santa Clarita Transit will then pick you up from the MetroLink stations in Santa Clarita and deliver you to a local bus stop. (Call ahead) taxi service is also available. Total transportation cost: $11-$17.50

The MetroLink is designed as a commuter service and, therefore, cannot accommodate luggage.

Private Limousine or Towncar:
$105 - 145 plus gratuity

Airport Shuttle/Shared Van: $50-60, and about $10 for each additional person for a shared van. Airport shuttles have their positives (door-to-door), and work well for trips from Santa Clarita to the airport. But you may be in for a long ride from LAX.

Taxi:
$90-$105

Rental Cars:
Renting a vehicle may save you money. Santa Clarita offers multiple choices in rental car companies. Major car rental companies offer one-way rentals. An economy car may cost less to rent than a shuttle service; and you simply return it at the airport. Bonus: you get to use it for 24 hours for the same price. (One-way rentals, without discounts, ranged from $49-130 from LAX to SCV; $55-130 from SCV to LAX.)
