Convenience is key at the Sheila R. Veloz Center at HMNMH, which offers Saturday, evening and lunchtime appointments to accommodate the busy schedules of
SCV women. The latest technology in digital and conventional mammography is used; and fine needle aspiration detection is also offered if needed.
The patient’s needs and opinions are the focus of the Center’s highly-trained team.

Cancer Care
Consistently heralded as one of its best units, the oncology care at HMNMH is superior. The Cancer Program consists of eight parts, including
Vantage Oncology, which provides radiation therapy so patients don’t have to trave outside of the SCV. Innovative technology is the pride of
HMNMH’s Cancer Program. The Program works closely with the American Cancer Society to provide support groups and community outreach.

Hospital is designated as a paramedic base station for L.A. County Paramedics and is L.A. County Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics
(EDAP)? What's more, a cardiac cath lab equipped to perform emergency angioplasty, today's gold-standard therapy for heart attack, is also in
the works. Two labs are planned: one coming next spring for cardiac and peripheral vascular care, and another lab in 2009 that is totally
dedicated to cardiac care. Included in Henry Mayo's plans is the addition of a state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanner, technology that gives
doctors a view of coronary arteries not previously possible.

Heart Care
No medical emergency is more time sensitive than a heart attack. That's why Henry Mayo's upcoming addition of a cardiac cath lab equipped to
perform emergency angioplasty, today's gold-standard therapy for heart attack, is good news for Santa Clarita Valley residents.

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital received an award from the Department of Public Health on December 4, 2007 for their efforts.
Laboratory Services
In addition to two outpatient laboratories on the hospital's campus in Valencia, a new outpatient lab has opened in Canyon Country to serve
the residents living on the east side of the Santa Clarita Valley.
Maternity Services
Feel confident staying home in the SCV when it comes time to expand your family. The experienced, 100% obstetrical-trained nursing team is
committed to providing exceptional health care to mothers and their infants. The nurses and respiratory therapists stay current in their
training and are certified in neonatal resuscitation. In addition, the nurses who care for infants are certified in infant stabilization.
All infants wear special wristbands that sound an alarm if a baby leaves the maternity department. Mothers and fathers wear similar wristbands
that identify them as the parents of their infant. HMNMH offers moms options in the birthing experience and pain management, encourages family
bonding, and provides complimentary classes for parents and siblings.

Rehabilitation Services, Acute
Regain your independence while staying close to home. At HMNMH, a team of doctors, nurses and therapists create individualized rehabilitation
plans to assist patients with neurological, orthopedic or other medical conditions in reaching their goals. The 19-bed center offers a simulated
home environment to challenge patients to relearn every day tasks. It also includes two gymnasiums for therapy and a daily social dining experience.
Family and friends are integrated into the rehabilitation process.

Rehabilitation Services, Outpatient
Whether it’s back pain, TMJ, arthritis, or a neurological disorder, the team of therapists at HMNMH can help. One-hour classes on back pain can
explain your diagnosis and provide helpful tips on posture and prevention Worksite assessments can prevent future accidents by pointing out safety
risks. A balance program utilizes exercise balls, balance beams and other specialized equipment to rebuild mobility.
Smoking Cessation
In response to the number one health risk in the U.S., HMNMH has created its smoking cessation program. Medicine and counseling are used together
to provide a relatively pain-free nicotine withdrawal. Group sessions are offered for support and further education regarding the effects of tobacco
use. Patients are always welcomed back for a refresher session.
Trauma Service
As one of only 11 Level II trauma centers in LA County, HMNMH offers quality trauma care at all times. In addition to a specialized staff, a trauma
surgeon and anesthesiologist are standing by 24 hours a day. The construction of a new helipad, which is contingent upon approval, will soon allow
the trauma center to resume accepting victims via air transport.
Wound Care Center
Since December 2003, the Wound Care Center has been healing SCV residents. The Center was founded in conjunction with Curative Health Services, a
leader in hard-to-heal wounds. A chronic wound is one that hasn’t shown significant improvement in four weeks or hasn’t healed completely in eight
weeks. After treatment, staff will also show you how to care for them properly at home to prevent future chronic wounds.
